art ---> science

As previously mentioned in some of the blogs, reading Saper's fourth chapter really opened up the idea of how art can be translated into science. Saper says, "the poet no longer seeks to create a heightened but objective view of reality, nor does the poet attempt to express a subjective message, or emotion." Poetry no longer is about the emotion or expression of feeling behind the work, as poetry traditional is. Now, instead of exploring these inner feelings, the poet "explores the laws of layout, typography, and poetry" just as a student study scientific laws. They are free to run experiments. No matter what kind of poetry the artist is aiming for, he/she is always experimenting with structure and form. This creates an always present scientific essence of poetry, thus mixing art with science.
