Reading Craig Sapers book made my mind dizzy with facts. Chapter five was all about the difference between the two. He kept saying in the other hand numerous times and made what I thought in the first place hard to understand with what he had to say right after. It all had to do with that particular time period and how it changed the way we look at art today with the way people saw art back then. It was all very interesting to me as to how things can change with just one person, or in this case two people. I really enjoy the concrete idea of art rather than the montage idea of it. But the one quote I did enjoy about the alphabet really spoke to me. It said
“ The Letter would be ready to form a new alphabet and a new language, a language that could say what had never been said, in tones that had never been heard.” – Greil Marcus.
I hope we can talk more about this in class because I completely agree, because the way you put words and letters can speak to a person.
