In Borges story i see many weak ties into the novel we are reading i see him trying to extend the present moment this is something that ties into the surrelist movement cause to write like your mind thinks you must extend a moment into infinity and really delve into what is going on in complete context of the moment and relations in the brain. YOu can tell these people were pulled in by the new psychology of this era, and wanted to take it into the arena of literature, and the path to doing that is very complex borges though defiently seems less comfortable in the way these stories have to be told but its hard to tell because fernando wrote his novel over a long period of time, but both are very interesting. Still though i am re reading the end of the novel after this to try to understand that.
