11/8

The readings for tomorrow about Jackson MacLow seem to be portraying that MacLow cared far more about the meaning and beauty behind art than the fame. It is interesting how he went through stages within his life concerning the style of art he incorporated in his works. It stated that he wrote metrical poems for a while, free verse for and even ends up writing some fuzzy verse poems. I also find it interesting how he looks to Stein's work for ideas. This must mean he respected Stein's different style of art. It seems to me that MacLow was very respected by Anne Tardos as they worked together. In her article she speaks highly of his ideas and outlook on how art should be envisioned. I believe what they are trying to get across is that artwork shouldn't be constricted to certain standards or expectations. It is something that should be valued merely for the beauty and ultimately the pleasure it brings about. Overall, I would say MacLow had a very fulfilling life and made some great influences upon people he knew.
