Alan Kaprow's article about Happenings was a new idea for me. I found it to be very interesting in terms of how he thinks of art in a way that has no set structure. He mentions how happenings are todays only underground avant-garde. I found this meaningful because avant-garde artist's work, I believe, goes unappreciated in many ways. Rule 1 made what "happenings" art is very clear for me. There really shouldn't be any way to distinguished happenings from everyday life and this is why it is considered an underground art form. It is interesting that people do consider these everyday events they carry out as a form of art. I never realized this was the case until I read this article. I knew art came in many different forms, but I wasn't aware that regular, everyday life tasks could be considered art.
