Multiplied Man and the Reign of the Machine

My Random Thoughts that came up while reading

The section of the "The Founding and Manifesto of Futurism" called "Multiplied Man and The Reign of the Machine" was very interesting. I agreed with his point that stories ending with the hero rescuing the fair maiden at the end and carrying her off into the distance has gotten very old and that we need a change. I also like the way he calls for a sensuous description of machines and making them a character like a lover in works. I though the idea that man and machine will become interchangeable in the future was very prophetic.  I also thought it was interesting that he described the man machine combination as "cruel, omniscient, and combative." It makes me wonder what he perceived machines to be that would cause them to add cruelty to human nature. I also wondered why if the man machine combination would be cruel, that the time in history when the combination happened "dream and desire... would reign supreme." I see dreams and desires reigning supreme as a good thing so I don't see how that would coincidence with cruel and combative beings.
