Futurism

I have an issue with the Futurist Manifestos. It bothers me that they believe they were the first to come up with the idea of change through violence. While reading through the first manifesto all I could think about was how it reminded me of the French Revolution. I think my biggest issue with this is that it all leads back to originality and who does something first and in reality there is no such thing as creativity. We've all been influenced by the past and even if you violently erase the past that doesn't mean the influence is erased. But the more I think about it the more I like the idea of destroying all the evidence of the past. It would be somewhat of a fresh start for people looking for relief from the ever present classical art that seems to haunt people. I might be missing the whole point of these essays, but I was just really keen to focus on this specific ideal of riding ourselves of the past, even though I also believe it to be an unrealistic goal to try and achieve.
