In Picabia's review you could see two things very starkly. At first you can see the addition or growth in the movement. They seem to be talking about artist from around the world especially in the introduction. "HELLO HELLO!! we have decided, after much thought, to introduce ourselves to the public on both sides of the atlantic." This shows there willingness to expand and then is followed by an example on what not to do though if you join the dadaist movement. I thought a lot of the poetry and automatic writings though seemed to be reactionary rather than truly daidist the were constantly defending themselves and expousing others. also seems to be more of an actual magazine that is more commenting than presenting. which i think is also a reactionary tool and a teaching tool. They were spreading their ideas and drawing definitive lines against themselves and the cubists .
Thank you also for giving us an article to accompany the writing because it is very useful to have complete or almost compete historical context with which to put the readings, along with insights into the lives of some of the Dadaist such as Picibia who we learned was sort of an ambassador or missiionary to this movement it helped me understand it a lot more and gave me insights into the poetry's meaning. It was very interesting to learn about the spread of dadism and also the backlashes to it in some communities.
