Reading Gertrude Stein's work about sentences has brought me to realize she was a very unique writer. Her work doesn't carry any type of flow. She seems to just put her work out there, open for interpretation. As she writes about sentences, she is very repetitive and non-rhythmic. Reading pieces like these are challenging for me because I can't seem to get into something that doesn't flow at all. At first, you would think the repetitiveness she uses would help you understand the meaning behind what you are reading. However, it does the opposite for me. It distracts me to the point where I am not grasping any meaning at all. I find Steins work rather different from anything I have read before, which seems to be the theme to this class for me.
