Networked Art
Reading Networked Art has brought up a lot of different thoughts for me pertaining to an evolution in art as we know it. It's interesting for me to have studied early to mid 20th century art and then to move onto Networked Art. None of these previous artists had access to forms of art sharing or communication over a network. Sharing over a network is something that has always blown my mind. Whereas at some point in time artists may have been restricted by distance or resources to create or communicate with other artists, now this barrier is completely diminished. Networking art opens up doors to infinite horizons or as Filliou called it, an "eternal network". Artists can share any idea or piece of art with artists on the other side of the world in a matter of seconds. It made me wonder how this would have changed some of the movements of early 20th century had they had access to an infinite network. I feel like there may have been much more unity and openness in Futurism per say. Maybe it would not have been the Italian Futurists vs. the Russian Futurists. Their ideas would have been more readily shared and explained and I think that could have opened the door to a convergence in their separate movements.
