Maclow 11/11

Maclow's Things of Beauty explained his methods to create poetry. His deterministic methods are unique and analytical. By taking certain words or names such as "Ezra Pound", he continues to use that name and choose words consecutively out of a source text using the letters of Ezra Pound to pick each word. By doing this, he really tries to strip his poetry of his own emotions or ego. If he can successfully do that, Maclow believes he is closer to representing objective reality. His work is not going to be constrained by his own feelings and emotions, it is just going to be presented at face value. While I think it is an interesting technique, I don't know if i necessarily feel as if I would define it as poetry in my own words. I always felt like poetry's essence lies in conveying inner emotions and feelings. What Maclow does is draw from reality, but doesn't put any of his own feelings into it. I prefer poetry when it speaks straight from the heart of the poet.
