for 11/11

From the first manifest, this statement, "Must one adhere to the old tricks of the trade and obstinately refuse to imagine new possibilities?" seems a bit redundant in terms of the history of the avante-garde. The point of the Futurists and the Dadas and the Surrealists was to break rules. The rules that are being talked about now are grammar, the nature of a novel, fixed forms, had already been thoroughly scrutinized and toyed with by the time Lionnais came to them.

I thoroughly agree with his statement in the second Manifesto, "
Poetry is a simple art where everything resides in the execution," which reminds me of Mac low in his attempt to make the creation of a poem enjoyable for himself. That must be the reason why he was such a prolific artist, because he enjoyed his work.

In thing of Beauty he seems to be working with a few concepts: theres quite a bit of repetition, a bit of work with didactic and acrostic methods, and a little bit of Gertrude stein style rambling
