Happenings!
I really enjoyed and agreed with Kaprow's insight into "happenings". I found it very applicable to today's art and music scene. I'm a big fan of underground music, especially underground hip-hop. Kaprow's idea that publicity often times means the death of the art seems to be quite true in today's society. It is as if once the song or piece of art gains publicity, it no longer is about the art itself but about what can be gained from publicity, such as money or fame. Publicity often times destroys potentially significant art forms. Kaprow's piece speaks intelligently for art forms in a society driven by publicity and money.
