2nd Section of Holocaust

The second section of reading was even more horrifying than the first. It was extremely difficult to read at times and I was forced to put the book down and take breaks while reading. It’s so different than anything that I’ve ever studied in school about the Holocaust. It’s completely factual and I think that makes it more difficult to read. It was interesting to me because I thought it was difficult to read firsthand accounts of individual’s experiences, but the coldness of this story was worse. It goes into detail of what happened to different people, but never put names to any of the people described. In the twelfth section, Escapes, he mentions one person’s name. It was extremely interesting that this is the only name that is mentioned throughout the book. It was also interesting that he decided to give a name to a S.S. officer and not one of the Jews. It was strange because I wanted to finish the book, it prompted me to continue, but at the same time it was very difficult to read.
