10/7

I found the Hannah Hoy article very interesting. Hoy used her skill to get across her views about the representation of women seen in mass media. I thought the article summed up Hoy's work and ambitions very well by stating that her work was "...uniquely contemporary in its exploitation of the seen quality of the photograph, its critique of gener roles, and its aesthetic versatility." I was a little lost on the poetry. It reminded me of Stein's style; there was an odd, vast range of topics brought up throughout the works. It seemed to use similar ideas with using the sound of the words instead of the contextual meaning behind them. I noticed a lot of repetition of sounds and letters. "...on her hip a tulip - horticulture of her hand-labor."
