10/7: Poetry Sans Poetry

The poets that we are studying, are obviously pushing for the eradication of sexual taboo. Mina Loy's poems are full of blatant sexual imagery, such as the poem "Oh Hell," which reads, "Goddess and young Gods/ Caress the sanctity of Adolescence/ In the shaft of the sin," the sexual imagery being "Carress" and "shaft," obviously. Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven was quite the interesting chracter, and falls in to the same veign as Ms. Loy with her spectacle she made of herself and her openness to sexuality. This not only question the art of an artist, but the characteristics and the life of one; Salvsador Dali must have recieved a great deal of influence from her with his pet ocelot and his open sexuality. In contrast, Hannah Hoch, was evidently called the good girl of Dada, and while her collages were interesting and must have inspired pop artists such as Warhol, she never pushed the taboos of society.
