"If I didn't do something crazy at least once a year I'd go crazy" I love that quote. It embodies a paradox and kind of what surrealistic poetry is. Is doing something crazy different than being crazy? Is being a surrealist like doing small acts of crazy and sort of a loophole to avoid being crazy. I'm not sure if that makes sense or not. We discussed in class how some surrealists were interested in people with mental disorders and how they might be the real surrealists. Completely free to do whatever. I'm trying to relate their freedom to the "freedom" of surrealism.
Going through the text I enjoyed the repetition and onomatopoeia of the words. People who posted before me have mentioned the words swell but then he goes on with the word eye. Huidobro repeats it and stretches the it out. Then he has the poem with every variation of the word eye. He is pushing the boundaries of where you can go with poems.
