Suicide Circus

This week’s reading was complete Russian for me. Literally. I couldn’t grasp much of anything that was going on. It felt like people were trying to take what the authors wrote in Russian and turn it into something else in English. They were taking phrases from the Russian versions and it felt like they were grasping at straws trying to come up with some clever underlying ideas. It felt like they had no clue what they were talking about and then I had no idea what they were talking about. It seemed like they gave numerous different combinations of what the author could have been saying. I understand that its difficult to know exactly what an author meant in their works, but it just felt so forced. For example, the final poem from Zaum by Gerald Janecek, the images and ideas that he came up with as the meaning behind the piece just felt like they came out of left field. Just totally out there and forced.
I felt similarly with Suicide Circus. It feels like stream of consciousness writing and I find that style very hard to follow. I have no clue what he is saying or trying to say. I guess overall, HELP!
