9/21

I love the cubist poems. I like that i can reread each poem and with each time it can be read differently. It contrasts to Stein though. Reading "How to Write" was somewhat harder. Her paragraphs are artistic, but they don’t have a flow. I can understand that style though. It forces the reader to pay attention to every word on the page. The repetition is also an interesting device to use to keep people interested. Her writings don’t fit into the mainstream, which shows some of the influence of the futurists. The way Stein writes is futuristic for the 30’s and it almost feels like her book could have been written now. It’s like a super long poem that seems to possess deeper meanings. But to get to the deeper meanings you have to reread everything.
