Like all of the other poetry we have been studying mac low is trying to seperate himself from the pack, trying to do something different, but what is different is that he is not doing it for some complete egotistical point. Like the futurist the dadaist, even gertrude stein, they all tried to do the same thing but mostly for their own concerns, and to show the world that their artwork was meaningful even though it was not accepted widely. It is his buddhist inspiration that makes him different, he truly wanted to write automatically other than a lot of the surrealist, but they had one thing in common they both revised their works, and it is then that i believe that the ego got involved, this is a fatal mistake that they all make, and this is eventually why Jackson eventually comes to the logic that writing without the ego at all is impossibly, but it doesnt stop him from trying this is the beauty of humanity no matter what even if we think that absolutes cant be attained, we still try and try and try again.
