“…People make artworks both because doing so is pleasurable and in order to cause pleasure to others.” I feel like this is my approach to artwork as well as writing. I focus more on pleasing others than myself. I make sure that my thoughts come through clearly so the audience knows exactly my point of view instead of letting them take things as they are and creating their own perspective on what I have to say. The author talks about “formalist” work; the work is seen as the point and nothing else. I feel like I take this approach to writing as opposed to a more creative, less easily interpreted work.
