In Jorge Luis Borges’ Introduction to on writing and the “Ultraist Manifesto”, he says a very interesting quote that I very much so agree with. He says, “A book is more than a verbal structure, or a series of verbal structures; a book is the dialogue with the reader and the peculiar accent he gives to its voice and the changing and durable images it leaves in his memory.” I completely agree with that statement; and every time I am reading a book I try to picture myself as the character and develop a certain voice and persona for the person. A really good book should draw you into the novel creating a personal experience for you. From the way he presents his ideas he seems as though he as he says condenses his work and words to the simplest form to create a single image for the reader to “see.”
