I think Macedonio Fernandez was very aware of what he was doing when he wrote “The First Good Novel”. Everything in the book seems very random and thrown together, but I think it was meant to be that way. I really liked the kind of meta commentary on the novel itself. I don't really know what it is going to lead to, but I find it interesting. This is obviously an extremely different take on writing a novel but also a very different take on writing as a whole. The tone of the novel is funny as well, the author seems very self assured and I enjoy the ironic tone he uses when describing things.
