Both of these readings were written in completely different way. When reading "Horizons" I felt like I was reading a very informative or even a scholarly piece. I feel that the main point of this reading was talking about expanding the mind to find something deeper or seeing it in a new light. When Dick Higgins wrote "However we must note first that for such a fusion of horizons to occur, the reader or listener must of some consciousness or shed own horizons in order to have something to blend with those of the critics.(3)" When I read this passage for the first time my mind went back to the fist day of class when our professor asked what modern meant to us. While we all had different ideas of a simple word it was important for all of us to keep an open mind in the chance of finding a newly merged definition of modern. To me that's what this quote was saying take different parts of others views or ideas and combine them with yours to make something new and upgraded.
"Founding and Manifesto of Futurism" was written in a way where I could imagine every sentance in detail. This reading was in a way poetic it was very interesting to read but for me it was harder to follow and understand when compared to "Horizons". He talked about how the past doesnt have any power over the future which is a differnt way of thinking and would allow someone to have a new begging no matter what they did in the past. In my mind I dont think things work in this way I feel that the past has a great impact on the future and the things someone does in the present vurse the past.
