9/28 on the dadaists

From the readings, i can infer that i'll enjoy this movement, the dadaist movement, more than that of Gertrude Stein. While Gertrude Stein was a user of simple vocabulary and a kind of "easy listening" word choice rhythm to her writing, the poems from the Dadaist are much more violent and vivid. The images in the Dadaist poetry often refer to industry and violence. They utilize sound effects such as war cries and sounds of fear. Its clear that their poetry was more intended for live performance, since this "Cabaret Voltair" seemed to be their frequent venue. The poetry as a whole reminds me a great deal of the anarchist movement; they seem to mock the day to day life that they encounter, and ridicule the rich and the yuppy.
