9/27
I have had the opportunity to learn about the Dada movement and have found it very enjoyable. In contrast to Stein I find it much more exciting to read. Stein was focused more on structure and how her words would be taken by people and trying to break away from social norms. Dada writers just did it. They wrote with intensity and life, something that is lacking in Stein's works. Dada work seems to perform for the reader even though it is just words. It speaks to me and makes more sense than Steins work. I realize Stein and Dada are very different and should not be compared, but I can't help it. There works were trying to attain the same goal of getting around the constraints of social norms.
